Train for the life you actually live

Coached one-to-one sessions, honest progressions and a plan built around your week — not around someone else's training schedule.

The approach

Three things every plan here is built on

No crash blocks, no punishment sessions. Just a structure you can repeat, a coach watching every rep, and a programme that bends around a real calendar.

  • 01

    A progression you can see

Every block has a clear target, whether that is a first full press-up or a steadier back at the end of a long week. You always know what the next step is.

  • 02

    Technique coached, not assumed

Lifts are taught slowly and corrected in the moment. Good positions come before added weight, so the work stays useful and stays safe.

  • 03

    Training that fits the week

Two sessions done consistently beat five sessions planned and skipped. Your programme is sized to the time you genuinely have.

Programmes

Pick the format that suits you

All three run on the same coaching method. The difference is how much time you spend with a coach in the room.

One-to-one

Private coaching

Full attention for the whole session, with the programme rewritten as you progress.

  • Movement and goal consultation
  • Coached lifting and conditioning
  • Written plan updated each block
  • Session notes after every visit

Small group

Strength squad

Up to four people training the same framework, with individual loads and regressions.

  • Shared warm-up, individual sets
  • Barbell, dumbbell and sled work
  • Coach-led technique checks
  • A quieter, friendlier room

Remote

Guided online plan

For clients who train elsewhere but want the same structure and accountability.

  • Programme written for your gym
  • Video demonstrations for each lift
  • Form review on submitted clips
  • Fortnightly written check-in

Third Garden coaching method

Every session opens with joint preparation specific to what you are about to do, and closes with five minutes of down-regulation so you leave calm rather than wrecked.

How it works

From first enquiry to first session

Three steps, no sales call and no twelve-month commitment before you have trained once.

  1. 1

    Consultation

We talk through your history, any injuries, what you want to be able to do, and how many sessions genuinely fit your week.

  2. 2

    Your first block

You get a written four-week plan with the lifts, loads and rest you need. The first session is spent learning the movements properly.

  3. 3

    Review and rebuild

At the end of each block we look at what moved, what stalled and what changed in your schedule, then write the next one together.

Meet the coach

I coach people, not programmes

I started Third Garden because the gyms I worked in were measuring the wrong things. Nobody needs a harder session than they can recover from — they need one they will come back to on Thursday.

So I keep the room small and the plans honest. If a lift hurts, we change it. If your week falls apart, we shrink the plan instead of abandoning it. The aim is a decade of training, not a brutal fortnight.

Questions

Before you book

The things most people ask in their first message, answered here instead.

I haven't trained in years. Is that a problem?

Not at all — it is the most common starting point here. Your first block will use bodyweight and light loads while we build the positions, and we add weight only once the movement looks repeatable.

What should I bring to a session?

Flat trainers, clothes you can move in and a water bottle. Everything else — mats, belts, bands and chalk — is in the studio.

Can I share a session with a friend or partner?

Yes. Paired sessions run on the small group format, so you both follow the same framework with loads and regressions set individually. Mention it in your enquiry and I will set the plan up for two.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Sessions can be moved with a day's notice and there is no penalty for illness or injury. If something longer-term comes up, we pause your block rather than lose it.

Do you write nutrition plans?

I give general guidance on eating enough to recover from training, and I stay inside my scope. For clinical or prescriptive dietary work I will point you towards a registered dietitian.
